SNOWBOWL TO OPEN SATURDAY
Storm System Brings Up To 52″ of Snow
Three storm systems started bringing snow to the Arizona Snowbowl on Monday, dropping 52 inches of snow on the mountain. Snowcats have been on the slopes grooming and packing the snow as it fell, allowing Snowbowl to open for the 2008-2009 ski season on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 9:00 AM
“We have been anxiously awaiting these series of storms in hopes that it would bring us enough snow to open for the season and we are certainly glad it did”, states Dave Smith, Snowbowl’s Director of Sales & Marketing. “We have had crews on the mountain most of the week preparing for this day. It’s been a flurry of activity here, from Ski Patrol getting the slopes ready to Rental Shop employees putting the finishing touches on our rental equipment. We are all very excited to get the slopes open.” |
He continues, “We needed last night’s storm to get the resort open, it was that close. With another storm forecasted Monday into Tuesday and another round of possible significant snowfall, this is a great start to the season.”
